Hey everyone! I’ve been playing a couple indie horror game demos lately and it got me thinking about my Wishlist. Come to find out, I got a decent number I’m looking forward too for release date. Not to mention, some of these have demos to get you excited for the full version.
If you’re a fan of indie horror games and you’re always hunting for the next psychological gut-punch, this post is for you. Below is my current Steam Wishlist packed with upcoming horror titles, some dark, some surreal, all terrifying in their own way.
From analog horror nightmares to cosmic descent sims, these games show that indie horror is alive and mutating.

Explore hauntingly detailed black and white landscape, where scavenger, psychos and supernatural lurk. Encounter these beings in turned-based combat and strategically strike areas of their body to mitigate damage or gain the upper hand.
Survive environmental threats, and manage limited inventory as you piece together the downfall of your world. Ideal for fans of atmospheric horror with survival elements.

5. Tempus Triad

A truly cerebral ride perfect for fans of survival horror, sci-fi, or dinosaurs.
6. Dark Fracture

You’ll tetter from a sound mind to pure madness if you succumb to the darkest part of your psyche.
Gameplay
In line with psychological horror and survival horror, balance your resource management with sanity-driven hallucinations. Solve puzzles, explore non-linear areas, and brace yourself for grotesque visuals.
Already playable in Early Access on Steam, you can play the demo and step your toes into the murky madness of reality and the other world.
7. End of Ember

Description
After an freak and darkly humorous incident at an outside get-together of adults, Ember finds herself in literal hell.
This would explain the pentagrams. In End of Ember, you traverse reality, hell, and learn about Ember as we engage in the workings of hell.
We fight grotesque enemies, encounter interesting beings, and have fun in a gore-rich horror shooter, paying homage to classic horror heavy hitters.
Gameplay
As a shooter, this game mixes and matches unique weapons. My favorite so far introduced was the ice gun with needle shooter. Levels are procedurally generated and enemies swarm from all over. Think bullet hell, like where we’re at, and shoot ‘em ups like Gradius or Sinistar.
The top-down perspective adds great birds eye view to where each enemy emerges and the environmental details. A funny but powerful mix of action rougelike, gore, and horror. A Steam Wishlist must for gore or dark humor fans.
8. Void Martyrs

Description
Void Martyrs throws you into a nightmarish cosmic horror crusade where you play as a rookie nun scavenging through plague-infected space cathedrals. It’s a survival horror stew of grimdark sci-fi, psychological dread, and religious horror, dripping with atmosphere.
You’re not just dodging death, you’re questioning your faith while hunting relics and dodging biomechanical monstrosities. Oh, and if you die? No biggie. The Church just sends in another warm body to clean up the mess.
If you’re into Signalis, Darkwood, or Blasphemous, you’ll feel right at home (or deeply uncomfortable, which is the point).
Gameplay
The real kicker here is the Stigmata/Faith system, your choices matter, big time. You can be a divine warrior or a heretic on a warpath, and that changes everything from combat style to loot access.
Whether your pistol-packing or prayer-chanting, the plague’s coming for you. And yeah, there’s cosmic horror baked in, with entities that twist your understanding of good and evil.

9. ONE WAY HOME

The world feels alive in its silence, filled with shadowy creatures, haunting memories, and branching narrative paths shaped by your choices. ONE WAY HOME blends the innocence of childhood with creeping dread in a horror platformer.
Gameplay
At its core, ONE WAY HOME is a puzzle platformer drenched in psychological tension. You must guide Jimmy through treacherous areas using stealth, puzzle-solving, and a bit of environmental manipulation – no combat here, just raw survival and brainwork.
A key mechanic, the “Crayon Story,” lets you uncover backstory fragments via illustrated memories that change based on the paths you take. Exploration is richly rewarded, and each decision impacts skills and story branches.
The platforming is smooth with moments of tension, especially when evading shadow creatures or interacting with devices that can either help or backfire.

Explore a semi-open world rendered in detailed pixel art, brought to life with dynamic lighting and 360° camera rotation. Scavenge limited supplies and crude weapons to fend off grotesque, otherworldly threats stalking the town’s darkest corners.
Interrogate unstable locals whose sanity is cracking, solve twisted puzzles shaped by their fractured realities, and push through a narrative steeped in psychological tension.
Survival means understanding the madness around you and resisting its pull. Fans of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, will likely like this one as do I.
Closing Thoughts
Whether it’s deep lo-fi terror, unsettling narrative design, or just plain fear, these games prove that indie horror in 2025 will be thriving. My Steam Wishlist has never looked so horror fueled in the best possible way.
